Apparently, this lens is available in two versions for the Nikon. The AF018N-700 does NOT have a built in motor for AF. The AF018NII-700, does. If you want AF and your camera does not have an AF motor in the body, make sure you get the lens with the motor. Reading through the reviews on this page, it seems that people are reviewing the two different lenses here, thus the confusion. This lens does not have a motor. The AF works fine with my D300, but not with my D3000.

I bought this lens a year ago for my Nikon D300, for sports photography, mainly for night time high school football games. Im really excited and happy with it. The lens is big, impressive and catches the eyes of the other photographers on the field. But be warned the camera is heavy and I use a monopod to help keep the camera steady and keep my arms from fatigue. This camera is great for low light conditions, such as high school football games with its 2.8f. Depending on the stadiums lights, I can go an entire game without using a flash. But in poorly lighted stadiums, I do need a flash to help out with illuminating the players faces. Overall the picture quality is sharp and clear during the day and night under the right camera settings/lighting the picture quality can be great. The 300mm, also gives a significant closer range over my Nikon 200mm/2.8f. Read more...

Photographers usually handheld shooting at 1 / 250 sec can switch on is to obtain a similarly steady and blur-free result with a shutter speed of 1 / 15 seconds. The inclusion of automatic detection of bread makes it easier for recordings in the wild-moving subjects and others. In addition, photographers can achieve additional noise reduction for shots taken with high ISO. Photographers usually including a 300 mm frame 1/500s handheld can obtain the equivalent result with aShutter speed of just 1/60s, greatly expanded the opportunities in low light conditions.
Focus is fast and accurate as the $ 300 Canon lenses. I have two and almost that use more than most other lenses. Sonnar Focus is like a drop with a sharp image in the center and beautiful nonfocus dissolve. Optimum aperture f / 4 The approach is achieved by extension, the front element. The ring type USM motor dives in front of small items easily, which very quicklyAF. Read more...

The Bedouin are a tribe of natives whose area covers the Middle East and North Africa. They believe that if someone takes the photo, it steals part of their soul. More than one RIP tourist took a photograph of a Bedouin in town on vacation for the Bedouin are only responsible to itself, the chamber hands and broke.
This sets a fairly low bar to beat for you, much better gift than a Bedouin are, here are a few photos posing ideas:

As you’d expect of an f1.4 lens, I bought this for one purpose: shooting wide-open and creaming out the background. And this lens delivers.
First off, I’ll start with the build quality. This lens is much larger than the other 50mm lenses available on the market. As a result, it just feels better on the camera. If you’re using a heavy D3 or a D700 with a battery grip, a one inch long, 52mm filter lens doesn’t feel right, to me at least. But considering this is around 3 times the size with a 77mm filter, it does a much better job of balancing the camera body. Read more...

Some may feel that this lens is a tad pricey but many forget about the needless things in their life that they can sell in order to purchase this beast. I immediately sold my vehicle because I was finally able to convince myself that I only use my vehicle a couple hours out of the day. It was sad that I even had to contemplate selling my car for this camera attachment but to somewhat justify my hesitation in selling it, I do drop off my children at school and use it as transportation to and from work every day. So, once I sold it, I realized that I had to come up with another ,000. Read more...

I wanted a lens over 200mm for my arsenal and unfortunately, if you stick with the Nikon brand, there aren’t too many options. I chose the 80-400, but I have to say that it’s the one Nikon lens purchase I’ve had the most trouble getting excited over. Not that it isn’t a great product – it is – it’s just that it seemed like a step back in time since this lens hasn’t kept up with the features of Nikon’s phenomenally good pro lenses throughout the rest of the product line. In the end, I felt like the choice was to “settle” for this product, or spend several times more money on (say) the excellent 200-400 zoom instead. Or, I suppose you could wait for the next upgrade, but I’ve already been waiting a few years with no result. Read more...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so, I think, is one’s opinion of a camera lens. I’ve learned over the years that lens reviews are helpful, but they are just opinions. Yes, for sure, you generally get better optics with more expensive lenses, but it’s certainly not a guarantee. And for reasons one can only wonder about, oftentimes two copies of the same lens will produce very different results. For example, my friend Sara, who is as nuts about buying (we’re like compulsive buyers) and using Canon lenses as I am about buying and using Nikon ones, has a Canon EF-S 18-55 kit lens that produces images so tack sharp through its whole range that would make you cry. It weights as much as the af-s 300mm f/2.8 (gen 1) but is about 2.5″ shorter in length. The primary lens is the same size, and it’s a chore to lug around. 10lbs to be exact with a D700 and a battery grip. The personality of the lens, e.g. sharpness, bokeh, is similar to the 105mm DC Nikkor f/2, except it has faster focus, able to shoot a couple of stops faster with VR, and has a 200mm focal length.
